The Duluth Art Institute enriches daily life with dynamic, innovative visual arts programming that upholds excellence and promotes inclusive community participation.
Award-winning plein air oil painter Matt Kania teaches you to experience Duluth in a new way.
Learn the fundamentals of observation, composition, color mixing, and working under variable weather conditions as you paint en plein air (a French expression meaning “in the open air” referring to the process of painting outside and on location). Each class will take place at a different Duluth location hand selected by Kania. Classes will consist of group demonstrations and one-on-one instruction.
Minnesota weather is unpredictable. We will be monitoring conditions closely and will send emails before each class to ensure everyone prepares themselves adequately for the best plein air painting experience.
This class is structured for beginners and intermediate students.
Class Dates: May 3, 10, 17 (5:30pm-8:30pm)
