Online Drawing and Cartooning (all ages):  A Day in The Life of A Bar of Soap

$25/session Monday May 11th 1pm-2pm Online Via Zoom (will send meeting link upon registration)

Step into Molly Maki's online learning fun house!  Students will create a cast of characters from bathroom items such as toothpaste, a bar of soap, bath toys, washrags, sponges, etc., and discuss how to "personify" these items into believable characters to make up a delightful and exciting story in cartoon panels.  Students will discuss their favorite characters from children's stories that inspire them and will use pencil and ink to draw out their characters.  Teacher will demonstrate facial expressions, body poses and tricks with perspective.  With a cast of amazing and diverse characters, students will write out a story and position their characters into cartoon panels.  Types of panels will be demonstrated and students can look at comic books for examples.  Students will share and read their stories to the class.

Supplies:  white paper, pencils, pens, ruler, eraser, thin-tipped colored markers including a black marker, bathroom items for inspiration such as a tube of toothpaste, a bar of soap, a rubber ducky, washrags, bath sponges, etc.

Optional: pictures of student's favorite cartoon characters from videos, TV shows and comic books for "Show and Tell" and inspiration.
