The human form is ever-present in our lives, and painters often feel compelled to include them in a painting’s composition. In this class, students will learn reliable methods for representing the human form with oil paint on canvas. Instead of focusing on the details of human anatomy, we will study basic human forms and learn how to render them quickly and with confidence. Methods learned will include composing and drawing with paint, developing human shapes and gestures with the use of value and color, mixing realistic skin tones, and finishing a painting within the context of an interior setting. Students will have the opportunity to observe and interpret from a live (clothes on) model. Matt will demonstrate and provide one-on-one guidance. Previous drawing and painting experience is recommended for this class.
