DAI ONLINE CLASSES

Art Incorporated, Drawing and Painting for Youth(all ages): Henri Matisse

Wednesday June 3rd 1-2pm online via Zoom (will send meeting link upon registration) 

$25/session 

This class is a fun mix of art making and art history. Learn about artists and get inspired to create work of your own!  The featured artist is painter Henri Matisse.  The class project will be making a stained-glass collage cut-out.  Instructor, Margie Helstrom, will guide you in your creative process and will provide demonstrations and feedback.

Art Incorporated, Drawing and Painting for Youth(all ages): Emil Nolde

Wednesday June 10th 1-2pm online via Zoom (will send meeting link upon registration) 

$25/session 

This class is a fun mix of art making and art history. Learn about artists and get inspired to create work of your own!  The featured artist is German expressionist painter, Emil Nolde.  The class project will be painting a wild and delightful watercolor inspired by Nolde.   Instructor, Margie Helstrom, will guide you in your creative process and will provide demonstrations and feedback.

DAI ONLINE SUMMER CAMPS

$75 non-refundable material and registration deposit due upon registration. Full payment due two weeks prior to camp start to allow delivery time for materials. Refunds not issued within two weeks of camp start. 

A limited supply of specialty materials are included in the cost of camp, campers are expected to provide some basic supplies


Teen Multi-Media Summer Art Camp: Shaping Found Connections (recommended for ages 12 and up)

June 22nd to June 26 1pm to 4pm Online Via Zoom (will send meeting link upon registration)

$150 member  $200 non-member 

Learn the value of self-expression and the positive outlet that art making can be with artist instructor, Kristina Estell.  Campers will explore art from all angles; exploring techniques in paper marbling, collage, drawing, painting and sculpture.  Learn the ancient Japanese art of Suminiagashi paper marbling, collage, and painting techniques.  Using plaster and found objects from nature, campers will create a self-portrait.  Inspired by the work of artist, Sarah Sze, campers will create a "small world" using objects found from nature, cardboard and everyday household items.  Campers will go on a virtual studio visit mid-week with a guest artist!

Teen Multi-Media Summer Art Camp: The Nature of Place (recommended for ages 12 and up)

July 13th-17th 1pm to 4pm Online Via Zoom (will send meeting link upon registration) 

$150 member  $200 non-member 

During this camp, you will create unique works of art that speak of the flora, fauna and geography of the north shore of Lake Superior and our surrounding landscapes. Campers will combine their creativity with nature to grow a deeper connection to their natural surroundings. Instructor Logan Kerkhof will guide campers through painting, printmaking and sculptural projects, providing technical demonstrations, instructions and feedback. Students will spend time plein air painting, playing with watercolor, making lino-cut prints, and creating a mobile with objects found from nature.  Campers will go on a virtual studio visit mid-week with a guest artist!

Youth Multi-Media Summer Art Camp: Fantastic Flora and Fauna (recommended for ages 6-11yrs)

July 13-17 9am to 12pm Online Via Zoom (will send meeting link upon registration) 

$150 member  $200 non-member 

Learn the value of self-expression and the positive outlet that art making can be with artist instructor, Kristina Estell.  Campers will explore the principles and elements of design through techniques in drawing, collage, sculpting and painting.  Inspired by the artwork of artist, Chiowza, campers will work from plants and animals as drawing subjects, using collage techniques to create whimsical and abstract mixed-media collages.  Campers will work off their collages to create 3D form sculptures using papier-mache.  Campers will learn and practice how to create textures and mix paint colors to bring their sculptures to life.  Campers will go on a virtual studio visit mid-week with a guest artist!

Youth Multi-Media Summer Art Camp: The Backyard Studio (recommended for ages 6-11yrs)

July 20th-24th 9am to 12pm Online Via Zoom (will send meeting link upon registration) 

$150 member  $200 non-member 

Explore your connection to the natural world through a variety of multimedia projects that focus on our own backyards! Learn to use foraged materials from nature in conjunction with traditional art mediums.Instructor Logan Kerkhof will guide campers to responsibly forage natural materials from their backyard and lead demonstrations on how to incorporate the materials into your artwork. Campers will create unique and intriguing works of art including Gyotaku inspired leaf/flower nature prints, sun prints and landscape collages. Campers will go on a virtual studio visit mid-week with a guest artist!
