In addition to children’s book illustrations, the Duluth Art Institute will also be showcasing the art between the pages of the newly released Holy Cow! Press publication: Spirit of the Ojibwe: Portraits of Lac Courte Oreilles Elders. Twelve original oil paintings by Sara Balbin will be on view in the corridor gallery. These unique works were part of 31 total portraits that Balbin did for the Lac Courte Oreille band of Ojibwe. Her efforts, along with information about the elders and a history of the tribe are part of the new book that shares the title with the show.
